Spray Paint

This is my plan... when I get my license and am required to get the sticker I will simply spray paint the sticker yellow so it blends in with the Jersey plate. Fight the power!
Lauren, I agree with you on Kyleigh's law on how it will cause more harm than good. There are som werid people out there who would look for the red sticker on the license and follow the person home and they will be in danger. There are a lot of maniacs out there in this world who would do things like that.

Also, not being able to drive past 11 p.m. is ridiculous. I understand if it was past midnight since there are less people and teenagers out during this time. But kids are at parties and staying out later when they are older.

Also, only being able to have one person in the car including family members is outrageous. I liked it better when you can only have one person outside of the family and as many family members as possible. The Kyleigh's Law is ridculious.

Red stickers

My parents won't let me get the sticker. They feel it is too dangerous. This sticker is just an invitation for pedophiles to come and find you. It is like our cars have targets on them, and everyone can see it. This is very unsafe for the children!!

Not Helpful....

This is not going to help. At all....

Personally I think it is a stupid law, and is completely usless. Driving to school this morning I counted 5 red stickers.

So I asked my dad if he would make me put the stickers on my car... His answer?
No... but if i get caught I have to pay the fine.

So, I like my money. So, i will probably be putting those stupid stickers on my liscese plate too!

I think Kyleigh's Law is somewhat dangerous for teenagers and new drivers. If they are required to have a red decal screaming "I'm young and I'm a new driver" or saying "Rape Me" because thats pretty much what it says to predators. Predators and rapists can follow you to the mall, to your house, or where ever your going. I don't think this red sticker is going to help at all.

meowwwwwwwwwwwww.grr.

i feel the same way. i think its a tad ridiculous; i think it should be optional for the parents who don't trust their kids. i dont think its out fault for what happened. and that we should be punished...WE did nothing wrong..THEY did.

Safety Should be put into Question

People tend to leave out the fact of child predators easily spotting out teenage drivers and stalking them to places and who knows what would turn out next, safety of teenage girls should be put into question here.
I feel the same way. Kyleigh's law has some ridiculous aspects to it. The fact that you have to have a red sticker on your car, you are not allowed to drive past 11 pm, and you cannot talk on the phone whether it's handsfree or not is outragous. I feel that this law isn't completely bogis. Yes, it is stupid that we have to "suffer" from this law because of one freak accident that happened. I hope New Jersey Government takes this into consideration before people become outraged.

Kyleigh's Law

I think that this law can be helpful to teen drivers, but also hurtful. I understand that the safety of the teen driving the car is the first priority, and who the law targets. However, some of the rules that the law requires could be hurtful as well. The red decal on the teenager's licence plate is helpful to notify police that a yound driver is in the car, however it can be a target for predators. Though the New Jersey Teen Driving site says that many other countries have done the same, and no incidents have been reported, you never know, but I do still understand the thought behind the sticker. Also, the teen is responsible at all times for the decal to be present on their plates and in the correct places. I know that this is because the driver should learn to be responsible, but if one was to get lost, or somehow fall off of the car I don't think it would be the driver's fault. I think that teens should be expected to make their own good decisions, and that parts of this law are not necessary, but I see the message behind it, too.

An Unhelpful Law

Kyleigh's Law may help the drivers, but it also may not. There are many unnecessary rules in the law that prevent the drivers from doing a lot. The law states that drivers with a permit or provisional licence abide by this law. While you have your permit or provisional licence, you have to wear a red sticker on your licence plate. Many believe this is the worst rule out of all of the rules of Kyleigh's Law. People feel that this sticker is going to endanger the young drivers rather than help them. As we all know, there are many pedophiles and rapists in this country, and many of them go after younger targets. Putting this red sticker on a young driver's car is making the driver an easy target for the pedophiles and rapists. Say one of the drivers had their sticker on their car while at a public place, a pedophile could see it and follow the driver wherever he or she is going and the driver would be in serious trouble. Another rule is that there is no driving past 11pm unless for work or religious purposes. What if someone called a driver with a provisional licence saying that they needed to be picked up from somewhere because something bad happened? Teens are put in bad situations constantly and if this happens after 11pm, an older sibling or friend would not be able to go help them by picking them up. Yet another rule is that only one passenger is permitted. It no longer matters if they are related to you or not, only one passenger is allowed to be in the car with a young driver now. The law used to be that you could have one person outside your family, and as many family members as there were seat belts, but now unless the parent or guardian is present, there can only be one person in the car with a driver with a provisional licence. The last rule of the law states that there will be no cellphone use, handheld or hands free. There could be an emergency and a young driver would not be able to pick up the phone, even if it is hands free. These rules are ridiculous and a complete outrage. Kyleigh's Law will be more hurtful than helpful and after a couple of years, NJ will see that.
